About Family Sessions
Photographing family sessions is awesome and super fun! Ever since I started my career as a photographer, I have been specializing in family sessions, as well as portraits. What I love most about this type of photos is the dynamic that goes behind every shot. Working my way towards a laugh, hugs, and playful moments is certainly rewarding for me. During the family sessions I take on a photojournalistic approach and throw in a mix of the formal portraits with candids and memorable moments that make great treasures for years to come. Family sessions are always great at any time of the year, but they are very popular around Fall season because that’s when the majority of families do their annual portraits to have them ready for holiday cards.
My family sessions are captured with a photojournalistic, lifestyle approach.
Tips For Photographing Kids
The trick is…to create a connection! The hard part? You only have less than 10 minutes to do so! The reality is that it most cases, I don’t meet the family until the day of the session. This means I only have when I introduce myself, and in between shots, to create a connection with the little ones. Kids are my most important subjects during a family session because directing parents is much easier. My main focus is to create a comfortable environment for the children in the family. For this reason, time and clothing are super important. I try to avoid doing pictures at noon because children get very uncomfortable, sweaty and not in the mood for pictures. I always suggest comfortable clothes, preferably one with their favorite style. If they’re wearing something that they like, they will love to model for the camera!
Creating a connection with the kids is crucial to capturing spontaneous moments.
Holiday Mini Sessions in Orlando
The following photos are part of the Holiday Mini Sessions and took place in Disney’s Boardwalk about a week ago and I had so much fun with it! The kids loved the location, they were really comfortable with their clothes and they were very excited about having their pictures taken which made it easier for me to capture! We began shooting at 8 am on a gorgeous Saturday and captured plenty of amazing smiles!
