How I Got The Shot: Melbourne Beach Portraits
Taking Photos in Florida’s Coastal Cities
It’s one of my favorite coastal cities in the East Coast of Florida and I’ve quickly fallen in love with all its charm. Melbourne beach is picture perfect. You can experience the beautiful sunsets in Melbourne, walk around the artsy Downtown, and eat delicious pizza while sitting on the boardwalk right at the beach! It’s the perfect coastal vibe for weekend getaways and dreamy photos. The Art Murals in Melbourne are quite amazing and there are some super nice shops if you want something local and completely different. And I've never seen it super crowded so that's a plus for me! I had the opportunity of doing some portraits down at the beach, but I’ve never really done a full session in Melbourne (which I’m dying to do!). So if you’re in the Melbourne area and are looking to have some portraits done, I’m ready when you are!
Getting the Shot
The idea for this shoot was to portray soft and dreamy beach portraits. The model was wearing black on black, her makeup was mostly cool tones, and we began shooting 5 minutes before sunset hour. I was inspired by ‘fantasy’ vibes but I also just mainly wanted the images to speak of peacefulness and of a refreshing solitude of inner searching and growth. This was a 15-minute session, so I had to maintain focus towards my goal for the final product. It was breezy while shooting so this also helped bring my vision to life, in quick snaps and such little time. I used my 85mm for all of the shots and brought it to life by using only natural light. I barely changed my settings between shots and I placed my model away from the light so I could get a softer feel in my images.
I did these photos a long time ago but never really shared about them. I have a vault filled with many images that I haven’t shared, or talked about. I’m guessing they will be good for future posts before this year ends! For me, these images are beyond beautiful and I wish I had talked about them sooner. I love how they came out and hope you enjoy them too!
